ZA Free Firewall sometimes fails to start on Windows startup

I have had this problem for a year or two even after I got a new computer.  It still happens sometimes even on the new computer.  I use Windows 10 x64 on both computers.

When I start the computer, ZA Free Firewall sometimes does not start.  Other times it starts normally.  Usually after it stops starting it takes a few more reboots to get it to start again.

When it does not start, I sometimes try to launch zatray.exe manually after Windows launches.  It take me several tries to launch it.  I can double click the file in my file manager and the first two or three times it still will not launch.  Usually on the third or fourth try it will launch.

There is clearly something that is preventing this file from launching either on startup or when manually run.  And it isn't specific to this one PC since this happened on my other PC as well.

The only virus software on the PC is Windows Defender.

I should add that none of my other startup programs have a problem and also that I recently updated ZA Free Firewall but still have the same problem.

How can I get ZA to launch consistently on startup?

    1. Ensure that you are running the latest version of ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall. Please download and install the latest version from the following link:

    2. Make sure that ZoneAlarm Free is set to start automatically on Windows startup. To do this, please follow these steps:

      a. Click on the Start button and type "Task Manager" in the search bar. b. Click on "Task Manager" to open it. c. Click on the "Startup" tab. d. Locate ZoneAlarm Free Firewall in the list and ensure that it is enabled to start automatically.

    3. Disable any other firewall or antivirus software that may be conflicting with ZoneAlarm Free Firewall. Having multiple firewall or antivirus programs installed on your computer can cause conflicts and prevent ZoneAlarm Free Firewall from starting properly.

    4. Check for any other programs that may be interfering with ZoneAlarm Free Firewall. Some programs may have a tendency to block other programs from starting. Try disabling other programs that may be running in the background and see if this resolves the issue.
